BARCELONA star Lionel Messi thinks Real Madrid’s struggles are down to the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, according to reports.
Real Madrid currently sit 16 points behind Barcelona at the top of La Liga with their chances of retaining the prize all but over.
The defending champions have endured a nightmare campaign with Sunday’s 2-2 draw against Celta Vigo another disappointing result.
Ronaldo has endured a nightmare season at Real, managing just four league goals and looking a far cry from the player of previous years.
And Spanish outlet Don Balon say Barcelona talisman Messi blames their plight on the Portugal international.
The Argentina international supposedly thinks Ronaldo is among a number of players failing Real.
Don Balon also cite journalist Javier Herraez, who says: “The focus is on Zidane , who is the maximum responsible, and the other is Marcelo, for that play of Celta’s second goal.
“It would be bad for Real Madrid if he thinks that everything is Marcelo’s fault. Cristiano Ronaldo is not well, Benzema when he plays is not well, Modric has lowered his final and so we can continue. There are many things, but the flatter weakens and after the Super Cups the team was disconnected.”
Messi also thinks Real have lost strength after a summer of bizarre activity.
The club won the Champions League last season but, instead of strengthening their squad, have looked weaker for it.
Theo Hernandez and Dani Ceballos have both failed to settle at the Bernabeu.
And the club have also failed to replace the likes of James Rodriguez, Pepe and Alvaro Morata.
Morata’s absence has been felt the most, particularly given no Real player has scored more than four league goals this season.
Karim Benzema, the man Zinedine Zidane refused to sell despite Morata being more prolific, has managed just two strikes in La Liga all campaign.
